We partnered with Without® to address a material problem most systems ignore.
Reborn 003 is made from post-consumer multi-layered plastic (MLP)—waste like chips packets and wrappers that is considered “impossible to recycle.” Globally, less than 1% of this material is processed back into usable form. Through Without’s chemo-mechanical process, this waste is broken down and rebuilt into a durable material suitable for eyewear.
Each frame repurposes approximately 5 discarded packets. The goal is not to present waste as novelty, but to demonstrate that even the least recyclable materials can be re-engineered without compromising function.

Material & Supply Chain
The material used in Reborn 002 is sourced from post-consumer waste streams and processed within a fully integrated system—from collection to final product. Without® works directly with waste-picker communities, formalising employment and improving income stability, with workers earning up to 2x their previous wages.
Their in-house lab enables rapid testing and modification of polymers, allowing complex waste streams like MLP to be converted into consistent, usable materials at scale.
Context
-
50–80% of waste in India remains untreated or landfilled
-
Multi-layered plastic has near-zero recycling rates globally
- Millions of waste pickers operate within informal systems with limited security
Reborn 002 sits within this context as a material experiment—focused on reuse, systems, and long-term viability rather than short-term claims.
